    Due to continued expansion, we are looking to fill DAY, AFTERNOON and NIGHT SHIFT ROLES within our production department (no split shifts).

    WORKING HOURS:
    DAY SHIFT: 47 hours over 6 days per week, Monday to Saturday, 7 am start.
    A
    FTERNOON SHIFT: 45 hours over 5 days per week, Monday to Friday, 2 pm to midnight.
    NIGHT SHIFT: 48 hours over 6 nights per week, Sunday to Friday from 10 pm to 7 am.

    Responsibilities:
    • Picking produce from fridges, freezers and other storage areas
    • Packing and accurate labelling of produce
    • Assisting with loading delivery vans
    • Cleaning of production areas, including machinery within the butchery dept.
    • Cleaning designated internal / external areas

    Successful candidates will:
    • Work to a high standard, paying attention to detail
    • Be able to work on their own as well as part of a team
    • Be physically fit as the work is demanding
    • Ideally have experience of working within a food production environment

    As an apprentice you will learn the skills required to perform the duties of a butcher including knife training, dicing, boning and rolling joints.  Working alongside skilled butchers you will have the opportunity to learn on the job whilst gaining formal qualifications.

     

    Working in partnership with M.E.A.T.S. Ipswich Ltd, County Foods a successful, fast growing Catering Butchers is focused on the development of their own people, from Apprentice through to Shift Manager.  Working 37 – 42 Hours per week over 5/6 days (Mon – Sat).

     

    All aspects of butchery work will be covered during your training.  Formal accredited training will be provided on site by our butchery training specialists M.E.A.T.S. Ipswich.  On successful completion of the training, the apprentice will receive the Certificate for Proficiency in Meats and Poultry Industry skills (Level 2).

     

    The work is varied, during which you will learn many aspects of the wholesale butchery trade e.g. preparation of both fresh and frozen produce,  knife skills, use of machinery and equipment, Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, picking, packing, assisting with deliveries and cleaning.  Your qualification will be attained through a structured training plan which involves both ‘hands-on’ preparation / butchery of various produce to customer specific requirements and completion of ‘workbooks’ / assignments issued by the Company’s training provider, M.E.A.T.S. Ipswich.

     

     We are looking for people who:

    As a successful, fast growing Catering Butchers, County Foods are currently seeking highly skilled butchers to prepare custom-made orders on all shifts.  Reporting to either a Shift Supervisor or Manager you will be responsible for preparing bespoke orders on a butcher’s block within a team of between 7 and 14 production personnel who will work with you in a traditional butchery, shift based factory environment.

    THE ROLE – as an experienced Butcher you will prepare fresh and frozen meats to a high standard, to individual customer specifications for supply to both retailers and the catering trade.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE will have originally trained or completed an apprenticeship as a Butcher.  You will be both talented and enthusiastic about butchery and ideally have previously worked in fresh meat production for catering establishments.  We are looking for candidates who are both; ambitious and prepared to go the extra mile in order to deliver exceptional service to our customers.

    SALARY:
    Negotiable, according to experience.

    SHIFT DETAILS:
    Day shift:           48 hours per week, worked over 6 days, Monday to Saturday
    Afternoon shift:  45 hours per week, worked over 5 days, Monday to Friday

    General Nature of job:
    To courteously serve customers with both fresh and frozen products ensuring that both customer satisfaction and exceptional service is maintained at all times.

    Key tasks and responsibilities
    • Courteously serving customers visiting our premises for the purchase of freshly prepared meat and frozen produce.
    • Following up and passing on enquiries received from customers for produce not on display ensuring customer satisfaction is maintained where ever possible.
    • Packing produce and processing payments accurately.
    • Re-stocking display cabinets as required, clearing stock and washing down display cabinets at the end of the day.
    • To be aware, adhere to and understand Food Hygiene regulations and personal safety procedures.
    • To accurately complete any paperwork associated with your duties.
    • To establish professional working relationships with other team members and customers of the shop.
    • To work on own initiative with accuracy and commitment.
