County Foods was established in 2004, initially with a workforce of just 5 employees. As a growing organisation, we feel strongly that our success relates directly to the combined efforts of our diverse team of 80+ employees.
As a Company, we focus on delivering a bespoke service to our customers. Our facility operates 7 days per week, with deliveries made 6 days a week; Monday to Saturday.
We continually invest in staff training and new equipment, using environmentally friendly systems and processes wherever possible. During the past 12 months, we have invested in solar panels to provide electricity for our site. We are currently installing a new IT system for our offices and production department. Our aim is to ensure we work smart, whilst continuing to offer our customers the best possible service.
Our teams are at the heart of our business, working together to deliver the highest possible standard of service to our customers, these include –
– Purchasing
– Sales (Office & Field)
– Warehouse / Production / Saturday Shop
– Quality Assurance / Health & Safety
– Delivery Drivers
– HR & Accounts
We have maintained a high percentage of employment longevity, 54% with more than 2 years’ service, two thirds of whom have worked for the Company for more than 5 years. We encourage personal development and accredited training and wherever possible, promotion.
We have in the past, supported trainees on an accredited Butchery Apprenticeship scheme. We continue to encourage, train, and develop our own Butchers and Production Operatives with ‘on the job / in-house training’.
As Food Catering suppliers, approx. 75% of our sales are meat related. Butchery is carried out on site by our skilled butchers, working at traditional butchers’ blocks. We do not operate production lines or use mechanical means of product recovery. Our line managers are immensely proud of their team’s achievements and those of the Company as a whole. We strongly believe that by our teams continuing to support each other, we will continue to be a successful and sustainable business.
As a growing business, we strive to strengthen our team by developing our line managers and additionally fill skill set voids from within, promoting a working environment where employees are encouraged to progress in their chosen career. We encourage self-development. Examples of progression within the Company; Cleaners progressing to become fully skilled Butchers, a Picker progressing to Shift Supervisor or Manager and Administration Assistant to Purchasing Manager.
We undertake regular planned reviews of employee performance and conduct, to ensure any training requirements or potential issues are addressed without delay.
We continue to welcome back to our work force, ex-employees and employ sixth form and college students for weekend and holiday employment.
