The last two months have been jam-packed for County Foods as we get ready for the summer. During April we were busy preparing for Easter Weekend which is always a busy time of the year for us. Our sales team, drivers and butchers were all working hard on Good Friday and over the Easter period, to ensure all customers received their orders ready for Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday. As part of our Easter celebrations we held a competition over on our Facebook page with winners receiving fantastic prizes including a leg of lamb, chocolate Easter eggs and more, the competition gathered over 150 entries proving popular with many customers.
Many new products have been introduced to our product range during April and May including new meat free burgers from The Meatless Farm. We’re embracing the latest trend for consumers trying a flexitarian diet in order to be healthier and introduce more vegetables to their diet. As part of this trend we celebrated National Vegetarian Week from the 13th to the 19th May, displaying some of the many vegetarian and vegan products we can supply. As a butchers and a catering service we are able to supply a full range of products suitable for all consumers and menus.
Looking at the wider industry updates, we’ve experienced supplier price changes with our pork, gammon and bacon products. This is in reaction to the ongoing African Swine Flu epidemic in China and surrounding countries, which affects livestock and leads to herds being slaughtered to stop the flu from spreading. This has affected supply and demand within the pork industry as the supply has been reduced significantly while demand has remained high. Suppliers across the UK and Europe have therefore increased their prices to cope with the limited supply, as China imports large quantities of pork from markets currently unaffected by the flu crisis.
In better news we’ve launched our BBQ packs for 2019 in preparation for summer with 4 different sizes to choose from including The Sizzler for £15, The Feast for £25, The Big One for £60 and BBQ Mix & Match with 3 items for £15. The packs are filled with beef burgers, sausages, chicken thighs, kofta kebabs and more! The barbequing season has arrived, so turn on your grill and order a pack ready for your next BBQ!
On 10th May 2019 we celebrated our 15th Birthday with a cake specially made for us to mark the occasion. Managing Director Doron Krips created County Foods in 2004 and since then, 15 years later, we’ve grown from 5 to 90 employees! In 2019 we now supply to over 500 customers across the South West of England. For our birthday we had a fantastic, celebratory giveaway over on our Facebook page with four lucky winners each taking home one of The Sizzler BBQ Packs, worth £25! We received many birthday wishes and we want to say thank you to everyone that wished us a happy 15th birthday. Check out photos from our birthday below!
