County Foods celebrates 20-year anniversary

Here at the largest independent catering butchers in the South we are celebrating 20 years trading!

Managing Director, Doron Krips, began his interest in catering back when he was a teenager working in his father’s butchery wholesale business. He created County Foods in 2004 with a team of just 5 people in a small office in Upton Industrial Estate. Now based in Fleets Industrial Estate in Poole, County Foods employs over 80 people, specialising in supplying meat products, alongside delicatessen, frozen and dry goods to customers all over Dorset and Hampshire.

The business hasn’t been without its challenges. Doron spoke about how changes to the restaurant industry have impacted how we supply our customers. ‘When we first started a restaurant would generally offer a simple menu with limited options. Nowadays menus have diversified so much and provide cuisines from all over the world. Part of what makes us unique is that we pay attention to our customer’s individual requirements and prepare the cuts of the meat to their exact specifications.’

One of our customers who we have been supplying for a long time is The Black Swan in Swanage. Owner Eric Olinet said,

‘We’ve been using County Foods as a supplier for 16 years and they’ve always given us an excellent service, good prices and quality meat. They know the hospitality industry inside out and work with us to give a tailor-made service. It’s like a family there, and they always take the time to understand what we need as a business.’

An exciting new development happening this year is the launch of our new County Select premium range. This will include building a large dry-aging room where 28-day dry aged beef will be prepared in strict conditions to develop a rich beefy flavour and buttery texture. To celebrate reaching 20 years we have also developed a new premium brisket burger just in time for the BBQ season.
