We’ve received a £3,000 grant from BCP Council towards our energy efficiency campaign
The project, funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, involves the installation of thermal curtains in the chilled and frozen areas at our plant in Poole.
We are passionate about reducing our carbon footprint and have taken many steps to become a greener, more environmentally friendly business. These include installing low energy lighting throughout our premises, recycling heat from refrigeration units, and installing solar roof panels.
Doron Krips, Managing Director, said; ‘Refrigeration accounts for over 70% of our total electricity consumption. Making the fridges more energy efficient using the new thermal curtains will have a huge impact on our progress towards our net zero emissions 2039 target.’
The innovative new curtains being used are Cold Stop® curtains, originated and designed by SMI. They provide a revolutionary alternative to plastic strip curtains used in many cold-rooms. The curtains are a cost-efficient thermal barrier based on Tempro® which gives them unique insulation properties far greater than standard types and resulting in significant energy reductions. They have been provided by Seymour Manufacturing International and Jaylee Refrigeration.
